Graduated medical school at University of Miami in 1977. Completed medical/surgical internship in 1978. Completed psychiatry residency in 1981. Completed fellowship in Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry and Psychosomatic medicine in 1983. All training after medical school in the Boston University Medical system. In private practice and various clinics — Miami, Boston area, Miami — ever since. What psychiatrists need is an understanding of what makes people tick, where the problems are, and how and why treatments work. Almost all of my work is psychotherapy, with a lesser component of prescribing. I am very careful about diagnosing — I do not overdiagnose — and I keep treatment focused and efficient.
